Shuttle iPod Update

Last night in class we talked about the picture of the iPod on the shuttle "dashboard".  I posted the picture a while back.  The iPod uses Lithium-ion batteries which have a tendancy to be unpredictable at times.  Think of the reports of laptop batteries catching on fire.  Therefore, Lithium-ion is NOT allowed on the international space station.  Apparently, if you want to bring an iPod on the space station you have to do a mod to the iPod where the Lithium-ion batteries are replaced with AA batteries.  I don't know what it looks like, but it sounds like a lot of work.
