Today we went to check out the original launch pads used in the early days of the United States space program. One of the most memorable stops was the launch pad where the US lost 3 astronauts in the Apollo 1 fire. What's left is huge cement pad with a cement stand and two flame deflectors (they were off the side so they are not included in the pictures). One of the shots in this entry is looking up through the blast hole. It's very faint, but I noticed the moon through the blast hole. The sea shore air is slowly rusting away all the metal, but not the memories.
